22 metų jaunas Ispanijos dviratininkas Rafael Valls baigė Tour de San Luis  varžybas 3-ias, kartu su komandos bičiuliais KOM. Mata ir Celis, kurie finaliniuose etapuos , buvo 5 ir 6.

The young Spaniard finishes the Tour de San Luis in 3rd place, including a stage win and the KOM. Mata and Celis, 5th and 6th today, after Gutiérrez G. was caught at 3 k left

Youngster Rafael Valls (22 years old) culminated his sensational performance on Argentinean soil to take the third place in the 2010 Tour de San Luis’s overall classification, as the South American course concluded on Sunday with a 167-kilometer stage in and around San Luis, down to an sprint won by Italian Alberto Loddo Loddo (Androni Giocattoli). Valls underwent no problems to keep his privileged pódium place, as FOOTON-SERVETTO-FUJI was always on the move and taking TV-time: at first, an early break by veteran neo-pro David Gutiérrez Gutiérrez took him into the 7-rider group that led the way to the finish for most of the stage, and which was chased down only with 3 kilometers left; then, the teamwork done by the partners of the team’s fastmen, Enrique Mata and Vidal Celis, who responded to their teammates with a fifth and sixth place, respectively. The team directed by Dainele Nardello closes his appearance with a nice role all over the week, taking the team’s first 2010 win thanks to the exceptional level by Valls, who was not only able to snatch the first mountain-top victory and his place in the pódium –only behind overall winner Vincenzo Nibali (Liquigas) and Colombian José Serpa-, but also took the red-white jersey as King of the Mountains.

Rafa Valls: “I’m so happy, this tour has been perfect for me. I knew I had had good training sessions during the winter, but if you tell me I was going to achieve what I earned here beforehand, I would have not trusted you. Taking a stage, the Mountain jersey and a third place overall was out of my expectations. The team worked really hard, they were fantastic during all the tour, and they even had time to think of our sprinters Mata and Celis today. I knew that my last chance was yesterday and made several attempts, but the headwinds in the Mirador del Sol climb avoided me going solo. What’s true is that we can’t ask for anything else: we’ve delivered a great result in this race.”

Daniele Nardello (directeur sportif): “The week’s overview is very positive for the team. I’m really satisfied with the performances by all these lads. We won a stage, we took the Mountain jersey and the final podium with Valls, Mata was out there in the sprints, the rest pushed on the peloton or took the breakaways… we’ve been on the front every day, and always in the right place. It even took their own responsibility in some moments to bring the race into what they wanted from it. This is something to be very happy about their attitude.”
